Broadway & Horton CC 99 All Out Lost to Walton CC 103-8 by 2 Wickets
ForWalton CC's 1st friendly of the season, they travelled to Broadway& Horton with a very young side. On winning the toss and seeing avery damp pitch Walton Captain S.Higgins put B&H into bat first. The decision paid off, with an early run out by T Sharp and bothopeners taking wickets early into their spell, S. Higgins (4-1-12) andM Cox (7-1-9). Breakthroughs were also made by A Bendall ( 1-20) and O.Ganfield ( 1-18), however the bowling performance of the day went to J.White who mercilessly skittled through the middle order with(5-17-5). A big performance in the field for Walton, with tight fielding all round and not a single catch put down.
After a big tea and some tremendous scones, J.White and O.Ganfield opened the batting on what was still a very tricky pitch and they dug in for 9 overs until J. White (15) was dismissed by Hill (4-15) with the score on 53. O. Ganfield (34) went two overs later and this was followed by a middle order collapse with only No 8 S.Higgins (10) reaching double figures from Batsman 3-8. Higgins's dismissal bought J.Gallagher(22 no.) to the crease who pushed Walton over the line with a serious of 6's and a 4 along with a very mature innings by A.Bendall (4 n.o)
